LONGMEADOW — Thanks to the fundraising efforts of parents and community members, Longmeadow teachers can educate students with initiatives and materials that would otherwise be out of reach. The Longmeadow Educational Excellence Foundation awarded $78,241 in grants to 31 educators at its annual ceremony on Oct. 24.

LONGMEADOW — Longmeadow will conduct a fall Town Meeting on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Longmeadow High School gymnasium. There are 29 articles on the warrant. Several of them seek funding, or additional funding, for large projects. Others amend, remove or add to the town’s bylaws.

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield is a city with 118,023 registered voters. On Nov. 5, they will take to the polls in 42 places across the city. It is Springfield Election Commissioner and City Clerk Gladys Oyola-Lopez’s job to make sure that process goes smoothly.

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield was awarded a $2.8 million MassWorks Infrastructure Program grant to reconstruct West and Plainfield streets from Main Street to the North End Bridge. At the Oct. 21 Springfield City Council meeting, DPW Director Chris Cignoli said the focus of the reconstruction will be on pedestrian traffic safety measures.

SPRINGFIELD — With less than a week until Election Day, voters may be wondering where they should go to cast their ballot on Nov. 5. In Springfield, there are 42 polling locations that serve the city’s electorate. All locations are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
