LONGMEADOW — At a joint meeting of the Select Board and School Committee, Estelle Jordan was chosen to fill an empty seat on the committee. The vacancy opened after former School Committee member Mary Keene won reelection in June but was unable to fulfill the role due to health issues. Jordan will serve in the seat until the townwide elections in June 2025.
LONGMEADOW — The Select Board voted on Sept. 3 to implement the Municipal Fiber Task Force’s recommendation and see if the fall Town Meeting will vote to move forward with a townwide fiber optic internet network through Fiberspring, the fiber optic internet component of South Hadley Electric Light Department.
LUDLOW — At a contentious meeting between the Board of Selectmen, Finance Committee and School Committee, officials discussed the budget goals for fiscal year 2026, the School Choice program and transparency versus public opinion.
SPRINGFIELD — District Attorney Anthony Gulluni’s office awarded a Community Support Grant of $20,000 to Christian and Brian’s House, a recovery house in Springfield. In total, Gulluni’s office has awarded $45,000 to the house.
