SPRINGFIELD — Springfield was awarded a $2.8 million MassWorks Infrastructure Program grant to reconstruct West and Plainfield streets from Main Street to the North End Bridge. At the Oct. 21 Springfield City Council meeting, DPW Director Chris Cignoli said the focus of the reconstruction will be on pedestrian traffic safety measures.
SPRINGFIELD — With less than a week until Election Day, voters may be wondering where they should go to cast their ballot on Nov. 5. In Springfield, there are 42 polling locations that serve the city’s electorate. All locations are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.

MONSON — The Monson Memorial Classic half marathon and 5K race will take place this year on Sunday, Nov. 10, with both races finishing at Memorial Hall on Main Street.
MONSON — At its Oct. 22 meeting, the Monson Select Board voted to reduce the weight limit for the bridge on Bunyan Road from 20 tons to 5 tons due to concerns with the bridge’s condition.
MONSON — At a joint meeting of the Select Board, Finance Committee and School Committee on Oct. 21, the Monson Select Board voted to terminate the town’s energy management service contract with Siemens in favor of conducting the required reports in-house with support from less expensive resources.
