WEST SPRINGFIELD — The paws will hit the pavement to support cancer survivors on Aug. 22 as the nonprofit Each Moment We’re Alive hosts its sixth annual Canines Against Cancer at the Morgan Road Pavilion in West Springfield.

Partnering with other writers and activists, Barresi is set to turn a screenplay about class, identity and the power of community into a short film. However, just as the characters in the movie must tackle obstacles to realize their dreams, Barresi and his collaborators need to overcome a funding hurdle to turn their screenplay into a fully realized musical film.
